JOEY SEGUNDO

Hi there, I’m Joey Segundo, born and raised in the Philippines. Through my art, I aim to reflect Filipino values of resilience and hope in the face of adversity, while celebrating the beauty I often find in the small, overlooked moments of life. Inspired by my mother’s artistic background, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Arts, majoring in Multimedia Arts, at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in 2017.

My artistic expression is a celebration of the everyday—the nuances and subtleties that often go unnoticed. I create abstract art as a form of therapy, guided by a naturally curious mind. Painting allows me to process thoughts, clarify my perspective, and express my current state of being. Whether inspired or not, each brushstroke serves as a grounding ritual, anchoring me fully in the present moment. I am particularly inspired by nature—especially flowers and the sea—and often draw on earthy colors that reflect these inspirations.

Currently, I am a nursing student based in Sydney, pursuing my interest in health, wellness, and medicine. Life, from an artist’s perspective, is rarely just black and white. In contrast to the standardized nature of healthcare, I approach both fields with curiosity, always seeking opportunities for deeper understanding and meaningful connection.
